Brendan & Kathleen's place

Brendan, Kathleen and their three children live in a beautiful hemp and lime house built by Brendan overlooking the mouth of Lough Foyle at Greencastle. This is a prototype house, and Brendan plans to build another one which will be the family home, leaving this one free to accomodate a design studio and workshop for his willow basketmaking. He grows his own willow for the baskets and also keeps the family supplied with vegetables from the two acres he owns.

  When the house was being built, Brendan also installed a REED BED to absorb any effluent coming from the dwelling. This effectively purifies the waste water without the use of chemicals. In the future Brendan hopes to supplement his work as a basketmaker and designer by selling organic vegetables to the public.
