MINUTES OF MEETING  January 2010
PRESENT. John, Liam, Therese George, Jenny, Eleanor and Noel.
Apologies    Mary.

There was a discussion on feeding the birds in winter.

Jenny was concerned that the bullfinches would eat the buds on the fruit trees.

Old C.D. hung up might keep the birds a\way.

We can grow different shrubs to encourage birds into the garden.

What can we grow in winter?

Onions, garlic early peas and beans.

Parsnips  will stay in the ground over winter

Gardening websites.

The climate in Inishowen is colder than southern England .


There was a discussion on recycling.

John Reilly will order seeds from Fruit Hill Farm and tools.

Seed potatoes will be in during the next few weeks.

Seaweed put  on the soil  to be left to break down in beneficial

Eleanor in involved in organising a Conference on the Environment in Cookstown in early March.

Next meeting last Thursday in February(February 25th)
